Andrew
H. Wakefield was
born in
Chattanooga, TN, but spent his childhood in
Southeast Asia as the son of missionary
parents. After receiving a B.A. from Wake
Forest University, Andy went to Southern
Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville,
KY, where he received an M.Div.—and
more importantly, where he met his wife,
Olivia. The Wakefields then moved to the
Durham, NC, area, where Andy earned his
Ph.D. in New Testament from Duke
University. Andy has served on the faculty
of Campbell University Divinity School since 1997; he now serves
as Dean and Professor of New Testament and Greek, and holds the
Lewis Edward and Martha Barnes Tyner Chair of Bible. Andy frequently
fills the pulpit and teaches Bible studies in churches throughout North
Carolina; he has served
many churches as interim pastor. Andy’s hobbies include woodworking,
metalworking, and
fishing.
Andy’s dissertation,
Where to Live: The Hermeneutical
Significance of Paul’s
Citations from Scripture in Galatians 3:1-14, has been
published by the
Society of Biblical Literature in cooperation with Brill Academic
Publishers.
Andy is currently working on a commentary on Galatians, as well as a
textbook designed for a rapid
introduction
to New Testament Greek.
